Ease on Down the Road

A few years ago, Anne and Jeff Rhoden began traveling to local festivals to showcase their beach-inspired clothing lines; SeaBabes Apparel for women, Trinity Surf for men, and Sea Wees for infants and children. Fascinated by the unique designs, customers began asking where, other than the festivals could they purchase items from their line. At that time, they hadn’t even considered a brick and mortar venue, the focus was branding, getting their product to the public.
Locating appropriate space for what would become The Abbey Road Boutique and gallery, was a bit daunting, as location is always important when considering a business venture. They happened to come upon some space at Seaside Plaza… home of Hurricane Grill and Wings, The Purple Olive, Romano’s Pizza and The Seafood Kitchen…solid anchor businesses that draw great crowds… this is where The Abbey Road, a brick and mortar boutique would make its home. Though the store carries it’s own brand of clothing, others are featured as well, such as Native Shoes, Southern Doe tank tops and t-shirts and ADA belts.
“We really are unlike any other boutique as we carry all types of fashion on every price level”, says Anne Rhoden. “In addition, our objective since day one has been to feature beautiful clothing for women of all ages. My daughters are in their twenties. My daughter, Megan, is the mother of two, and of course, I’m a bit older. We just love to see the ladies of St. Augustine looking great and feeling comfortable.”
Over the past two and a half years Anne and her family have witnessed The Abbey Road grow by leaps and bounds – much due in part to the personalized service they give each and every customer that comes through the door.
“Though most would think of shopping for a living as fun…and it is, a lot of time and thought go into what we bring into The Abbey Road, because when our customers are out on the town, and someone says, “Hey, where’d you get that fab dress?” their response will be, The Abbey Road of course!”
