At this year’s THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP™ , it could be said that everything old was new again. Although they’re always tinkering with this or that to make things better for the fans and the players, this year there were some BIG changes. The course underwent some extensive alterations: all the greens were torn up and replaced; some new hole configurations added more excitement, including making the 12th a drivable par-4 (which we all know the players just can’t resist); new grandstands were added and viewing areas were improved, making the venue even better for spectators than before.

Other additions enhanced the guest experience with more on- and off-course entertainment, family fun, dining options and a new app which made following your favorite player, finding your friends, and even ordering food and beverages as easy as picking up your smartphone.

And, following suit, we had a new champion, who set a new record by being the youngest PLAYERS winner in the history of the tournament: Si Woo Kim was 21 years old when he hoisted THE PLAYERS Waterford crystal trophy, replacing Adam Scott, who was 23 when he claimed the title in 2007.

Something else new — Old City Life’s go-to photographer for THE PLAYERS, Addison Fitzgerald, was inside the ropes this year, giving you a new angle on all of the action.
