A History of Excellence

The year 1925 has a special place on the timeline of St. Augustine’s illustrious history. Construction began on the Bridge of Lions, the U.S. was in the midst of a real estate boom, and two Georgia Tech graduates named John Thompson and Harold Ryman founded one of the most enduring businesses in town. What was then called the Thompson-Ryman Agency provided insurance and real estate services. In the aftermath of the stock market crash of 1929, the firm added financial services to its offering of products to the local community.
In the more than nine decades since its founding, ThompsonBaker Agency has played a vital role in the business and civic life of St. Augustine and St. Johns County through its unwavering commitment to clients and longstanding service to our community. Current ThompsonBaker President, Matt Baker, continues the firm’s spirit of principled service and integrity that was put in place by its founders. Agency Chairman Greg Baker has served as Mayor of St. Augustine, and Dan Alexander, ThompsonBaker Executive Vice President, has served as Chairman of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce.
Presently, ThompsonBaker provides both Commercial and Personal insurance, Group Benefits, and Financial Services. To quote Alan Bratic, Flagler College alum and Manager of ThompsonBaker Financial, LLC: “We thrive on doing what is best for our clients and the community. We have 91 years of experience in doing things the right way; not the easy way.”
