Using video services, web design, studio music recordings, and even digital forensics, Eclipse Recording Company’s services run the gamut from developing bona fide rock stars to helping solve some of the country’s biggest criminal cases.
“We’ve branched out in many ways,” says Eclipse Recording Company founder, Jim Stafford. “In 2000, we began simply as a recording studio and soon thereafter began manufacturing CDs and doing sound for live events. In 2005, we added video production and web design – providing everything we thought would be useful to our clients.”
Stafford and his team have worked with a range of famous people: actor Kevin Costner, Americana jam musician Brent Byrd, rocker Eddie Pickett, and member of Those Guys and inventor of Eclipse’s tagline (“From the first track to the shrink wrap”) Walt Kulwicki.
“In 2005, we began offering forensic services,” Stafford says of Eclipse’s progression over the past decade plus. “Although most of the work we’ve performed has been for law enforcement, we have also served many attorneys and private individuals. The services we offer include audio, video, mobile devices, and computer forensics. In 2018, we’ve worked 62 forensic cases so far.”
Over the years, Stafford and his loyal crew have always found ways to give back to the community that has given them so much. For the past 15 years, Eclipse Recording Company has recorded and produced a Christmas-themed collection of tunes with both musicians and studio staff donating their time. The album is then sold locally, with proceeds going toward financial assistance to families and the elderly.
“Helping folks in need and giving them a lift when they need it the most is the greatest gift you can give,” says Stafford. “We all have needed that in our lives, probably more than once.”
Eclipse Recording Company also spends time each year running Camp Rock, a weeklong summer camp for middle and high school students that’s held at St. Augustine Amphitheatre in partnership with Friends of St. Augustine Amphitheatre, better known as FOSAA.
“It’s really a dream come true,” Stafford explains. “Being able to nurture these eager, aspiring players and singers is a wonderful experience for everyone involved. The Amphitheatre gives us all of the support and encouragement we need, but none of this would be possible without the sponsorship from FOSAA. They make so much happen for our community, and their dedication to creating opportunities for children to experience the arts is absolutely amazing.”
