Christy Geddings was having difficulty finding a business in town that was able to turn around her signage needs in a short amount of time. So, like any great entrepreneur, she enlisted the help of her daughter, Carly Book, and the two women opened Quick Signs in September of 2014.
Located at 1570 US-1, in the Little Harbour Center, Quick Signs specializes in everything from vinyl banners and custom signs to vehicle wraps and logo design – pretty much anything you would need to get the word out about your business.
“We had been thinking about it for a year before we actually opened our doors,” Geddings explains. “We did our due diligence and visited sign franchises in Florida and outside of Florida to find out if that’s what we wanted to do, but we realized that we could do this on our own.”
Maintaining independence was important for the women. They felt that, in order to best serve the community and help other local St. Augustine companies grow, they themselves should be a local company.
“I like being able to meet other business owners and help them with their business needs,” Geddings says. “It’s exciting to drive around St. Augustine and see vehicles that you’ve done or signage that you’ve done on the local buildings.”
Over the past few years, Quick Signs has grown year-over-year. It’s also helped strengthen the bond between mother and daughter.
“We’ve actually grown closer,” says Book. “We do more than just the business. We work out together; we work together; we occasionally hang out on the weekends. It works out really well. I feel fortunate to get to grow this business with my mom.”
