Hurricane Matthew’s affects has so many of our residents clammoring for that sense of normality which natural disasters cruely take away (or, in this case, blow away). The storm hit as all of St. Johns County was starting to prepare for fall and our festive holiday season. Once the tides receeded, t was feared that the city’s modern classic, the beautiful Nights of Lights, was in danger of becoming a casualty of the winds and water. Thankfully, Chris Fitts’ Angels in the Architecture were back in action as soon as they could be and the evening of November 19th, the switch will be flipped on millions of glowing white lights throught the city, ushering in the beloved tradition. While clean-up and recvery are ongoing, it’s a good bet that many people will start to feel some of the spirit of the season return with the sparkle of the town.
